Optical illusions are designed to mess with our brains 鈥 but how? Your eyes collect light and send signals to your brain. The brain then interprets these signals to create the image you 鈥渟ee.鈥 Sometimes, the brain makes assumptions or fills in gaps based on experience and context. The brain expects things to behave in certain ways, so it can be tricked. This is how our perception can get warped 鈥 and this particular image definitely succeeds in doing that. So can you figure out what’s actually going on? Posted on the r/opticalillusions forum, one user shared an image showing “identical twins”. It displays two images next to each other, which are supposedly the same. However, it’s left many people scratching their heads. The photo, which garnered 2,000 upvotes, shows a piece of wood with markings. The graphic next to it looks like it’s been mirrored 鈥 but that’s where you’re wrong. According to the message on the illusion, the image on the left and the right are identical, just rotated. But many don’t believe it! One said: “What’s crazy is that when I rotate it, they stay the same until I look away and look back.” While another added: “Genius,” and a third commented: “I can’t even force my brain to see it right.” Someone else admitted: “This one is a killer,” then a person on Reddit chimed in: “I hate it.” Want to read about more mind-bending illusions?
