Popular actor Vijay Sethupathi is happy father as his son Surya Sethupathi, is all set to make his debut as a lead actor in director Anl Arasu’s Phoenix. Recently, the makers arranged a special premiere for the film fraternity, family, friends at Sathyam Theatre in Chennai. After the screening, star shared a heartwarming moment, with his son while congratulating his son and the team in front of the media. He then hugged him after the screening in front of the media. He also congratulated director Anl Arasu for the film. Ahead of film’s release, Surya exclusively interacted with Zoom, where he opened up about his transformation for the film. The young actor revealed that he weighed around 120 kg before working on Phoenix. Although he reduced his weight, the entire process took him 1.5 years. Surya Sethupathi on his physical transformation for Phoenix In an exclusive interview with Zoom, Surya shared, “Before the movie started, I weighed around 120 kg. It took me one and a half years to reduce my weight. In the process of reducing my weight, I learned MMA, which is the core of the movie.” The Phoenix actor said that initial six were a bit difficult for him as he had to cut down on sugar and oil intake. “That was difficult for me but after time passed, it was quite easier,” he added. Phoenix is a sports action drama, written and directed by stunt director Anl Arasu. The film features Surya, alongside Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Devadarshini in important roles. The supporting cast includes Sampath Raj, Dileepan, Muthukumar, Harish Uthaman, Ajay Ghosh, Aadukalam Murugadoss and Aadukalam Naren in key roles. The film hits screens on July 4.
