Writing to parents, Director of Education Ian Barton announced the rollout of devices will begin this term, with the focus on utilising the best technology to help students achieve excellence: “It is our vision that this device stays with your child throughout their learning journey, to enable them to access teaching materials and work both within school and at home.”
Since the pandemic the school has been providing free uniform and PE kit to new students, whilst funding has been secured for a complete rebuild in the next few years.
Ian Barton says it’s about providing what’s needed for students to make the most of their time in education and supporting the community: “We see this exciting step forward as a continuation of the partnership between school and yourselves, though there will be no contribution required to the cost of the device, as we feel it is a right to your child鈥檚 education that the best resources are provided by us. We hope your child will value and care for it over their school life, keep it fully charged and in good condition ready to be used every day.”
The school on Oldacre Road have stepped up their community outreach in recent months, hosting writing and pizza making competitions for local Primary schools and inviting younger students to see their summer production of Rock of Ages.
Ian Barton says there are still some places available for students wanting to join in September, and that every Perrys student will benefit from the use of new technology in the classroom: “We have seen how this use of technology can help pupil progress and attainment, but it鈥檚 important to note it will not replace traditional teaching methods, it will enhance them. We will still be providing exercise books and promoting the value of writing skills to ensure we fully prepare students for written exams in the future.”
