People on certain DWP benefits and those with certain health conditions could get significantly cheaper travel this summer in the form of a Disabled Persons Railcard. Despite recent overhauls to the welfare system, the railcard remains a benefit available to those with disabilities and receiving benefits. A Disabled Persons Railcard costs 拢20 for a single year or 拢54 for three years. It offers a third off rail travel for both the cardholder and an accompanying adult, potentially yielding an average annual saving of up to 拢113. Those in receipt of specific DWP benefits such as Personal Independence Payment (PIP) or Adult Disability Payment could all potentially qualify for discounted rail travel.
