Padraig Harrington get into fiery run-in with Roger Maltbie in wild scene

Padraig Harrington got into it with NBC analyst and longtime PGA golfer Roger Maltbie on Friday.

The incident, which happened midway through the U.S. Senior Open, was seemingly over Harrington taking offense from Maltbie not helping his group look for a lost golf ball.

鈥淣ever on a golf course stand and look at somebody looking for a golf ball,鈥 Harrington said in the video.

鈥淭hat鈥檚 a hard position to take there,鈥 Maltbie responded.

The two then stepped closer to each other and continued to argue, and Harrington was heard telling Maltbie, 鈥淵ou鈥檝e played golf all your life. You understand.鈥

At one point during the argument, Maltbie says, 鈥淚鈥檓 not a player,鈥 to Harrington.

Maltbie, 73, played on the PGA Tour for over 20 years, winning five tournaments before making the switch to broadcasting in 1991.

Harrington鈥檚 caddie, Ronan Flood, tried to step in to quell the altercation, but was ultimately unsuccessful.

After some more banter, Harrington eventually walked away from Maltbie, ending the interaction.

Going into Saturday, Harrington, 53, is tied for the lead alongside partner Stewart Cink with the two and Australian golfer Mark Hensby at 6-under.

鈥淚f anything, he鈥檇 be a little bit longer than me,鈥 Harrington said of Cink on Friday. 鈥淏ut I suppose I know his game enough that I can see what鈥檚 happening, as well. He is definitely a partner I would choose to play with.鈥

Cink, who is playing in his first U.S. Senior Open, hit all 18 greens in regulation on Friday, a stat that he has called overrated.

鈥淵ou don鈥檛 want to be chipping downhill on this course, it鈥檚 not a secret,鈥 said the 52-year-old Cink.
