Super Eagles striker, Paul Onuachu is unhappy about his purported transfer from Southampton to former Turkish Super Lig champion, Trabzonspor, Soccernet.ng reports.
Over the past year, Onuachu has been continuously linked with Trabzonspor. Recall that two seasons ago he joined the club from Southampton in a season-long loan. He performed at a high level there, contributing 17 goals and four assists in 25 games.
Upon the expiration of the loan, there were talks that the Turkish side wanted to make the deal permanent. But they were unable to meet Southampton鈥檚 valuation of the Super Eagles striker.
Coming into this summer, it was expected that it would be a straightforward transfer, as Onuachu鈥檚 value has dropped significantly to 鈧8 million, and the club have suffered relegation to the Championship, which means they will have to sell.
Last week, Soccernet.ng even reported that Southampton and Trabzonspor had already agreed on a fee. But it appears that things have cooled off for a while.
In a new development, per Buchi Laba, Southampton has now back-pedaled on the agreement with Trabzonspor, and this has left Onuachu frustrated.
鈥淧aul Onuachu is very frustrated. Southampton keeps shifting the post,鈥 鈥楤uchi Laba wrote.
鈥淚 was told days ago a deal has been agreed and now they鈥檙e back to negotiations.鈥

Southampton paid Genk 鈧15 million for Onuachu, and selling him for 鈧8 million would be a significant loss for them. As such, the club might be looking at getting a higher fee from Trabzonspor.
On the other hand, Southampton has a new coach in Will Still, and he just might fancy making Onuachu an important player in the team鈥檚 promotion battle in the Championship next season.
Nonetheless, in the coming weeks, Onuachu鈥檚 future should become clearer.
