On Video: BBMP Staff Assaults Bengaluru House Owner for Questioning Caste Survey Stickers

Bengaluru: A house owner in Sarvabhoumanagar, Chikkalasandra, was allegedly assaulted by Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) staff after he questioned them for pasting stickers related to a Scheduled Castes survey without prior consent. The incident occurred when Nandish, the homeowner, confronted the municipal workers for not informing residents before affixing the stickers, as required by protocol. The situation reportedly escalated, and Nandish was slapped and kicked by the staff. CCTV footage capturing the altercation quickly went viral, sparking public outrage. In response, the BBMP suspended Health Inspector Suresh, who was involved in the incident, pending an inquiry. Video: Separately, the BBMP has suspended three officials in connection with alleged irregularities in Karnataka’s caste survey. The civic body cited negligence and serious lapses as it initiated corrective action in the case.
