The lsquoMukhya Mantri Bayu Swasthya Sevarsquo Odisharsquos flagship air health initiative has resumed in full force in Nabarangpur district starting Monday with a four-day mega health camp aimed at delivering advanced medical care to underserved communities.
Notably the initiative will restart after remaining dormant for over a year and a half.
Sources reported that the camp running from July 7 to 10 will provide free high-end super-speciality treatment to 938 patients who have been pre-screened across the district.
These services which are typically unavailable in remote and tribal regions are being delivered to the doorstep of patients via air by top doctors from SCB Medical College Cuttack.
Specialist Doctors Fly in with Critical Care Services
Under this initiative patients in Nabarangpur will have access to specialists in urology nephrology neurology endocrinology gastroenterology and laparoscopic surgery among other advanced branches of medicine.
Notably many of these procedures such as endoscopy echocardiography and diagnostic interventions require facilities and expertise that are rarely accessible in tribal districts.
To ensure comprehensive care aerial transport has been arranged to bring super-specialist doctors directly to the district headquarters marking a first-of-its-kind outreach in Odisharsquos healthcare delivery model.
Free Treatment and Medication for All Patients
The Chief Ministerrsquos Office has confirmed that all medical consultations surgeries and prescribed medications will be provided completely free of cost during the camp.
Patients will not need to travel outside their district or bear the financial burden of tertiary care making this initiative a game-changer for economically vulnerable populations.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi in a post on social media platform X expressed his commitment to expanding advanced healthcare to the most remote corners of Odisha. He added that camps in Nuapada and Malkangiri districts will follow in a phased manner.
Administrative and Logistical Coordination Ensures Smooth Rollout
Local administration has ensured that logistics including tent infrastructure medical equipment and accommodation for the medical teams are fully in place.
It also stated that food drinking water and transport arrangements have also been provided to support the doctors and patients during the camp.
According to the statement from the Chief Ministerrsquos Office the first batch of senior resident doctors reached Nabarangpur on Sunday to initiate diagnostics and preparatory work.
The next phase will see associate professors and consultants conduct surgeries and specialist consultations on July 8 with an aim to complete treatment for as many patients as possible before July 10. All procedures and medicines are to be delivered free of cost under the state scheme.
