Number of Students Scoring Above 60% in Class 10 Increased by 58.3% in Last 11 Years: Govt

In the last 11 years, there has been a surge in the number of students scoring 60 per cent or higher in the Class 10 board examinations, according to data shared by the Ministry of Education (MoE). The growth has been more significant for female students, the data reveals. As per the data shared by the Ministry of Education, the overall number of students scoring 60 per cent and above in class 10 board examinations increased from 58.1 lakh students in 2013 to 92 lakh students in 20204, which is an increase of 58.3 per cent in 11 years. The number of girls scoring 60 per cent or above marks climbed from 28.6 lakh in 2013 to 48 lakh in 2024, representing a growth of 67.8 per cent. The Education Ministry noted that the improvement in the number of girls scoring 60 per cent and above in class 10 exams promotes gender equity in education. “This achievement is a testament to the transformative impact of #NEP2020 which has played a pivotal role in strengthening equitable, inclusive and quality-driven school education across the country,” the Ministry of Education stated in a tweet, posted via the official MoE ‘X’ (earlier known as Twitter) account. Prime Minister Narendra Modi鈥檚 statement 鈥 鈥淲hen women prosper, the world prospers鈥 鈥 was also highlighted by the Ministry to showcase how women-led development is being advanced through educational achievements.
