‘No One Will Show You This’: Indian Woman After Attending A Chinese Wedding

An Indian woman living in China with her family has shared a video about her experience of attending a Chinese wedding for the first time. The video, uploaded to the YouTube channel, Part Time Traveller China, has caught the attention of many viewers. The channel is run by an Indian couple who regularly posts about life in China.
The video is titled “They won’t show you this side of China.” In the caption, she wrote, “In this video, I share about my experience attending my first Chinese wedding.”
The woman was heading to the wedding venue with her son. She says she is attending the wedding of one of her colleagues. The event was held at a well-known and “hard-to-book” location in Shanghai – the Shanghai Xijiao. She adds, “Even the President have some kind of conference here. This is one of the most booked places in Shanghai.”
The video then shows the grand venue. She gives a small tour of the space and highlights the scenic views and luxury amenities. As she enters the main wedding hall, she says, “The ambience is quite good.”
Inside the hall, round tables are set up in a neat and organized way. A clear passage is left in the centre for the bride and groom to walk through as they make their way to the main stage. On each table, there is a rotating tray that guests can spin to choose the dishes they want to eat. The tables are filled with a wide variety of Chinese food.
She then shows the groom making a lively and energetic entry. The bride enters shortly after. The wedding rituals follow soon after that.

The video was well-received by viewers on social media. Some people found it interesting to watch a Chinese wedding through the eyes of someone from a different culture.
One viewer commented, “I learn so much from your vlogs, awesome! Keep them coming.”
Another wrote, “What a nice place it is.”
A few users expressed interest in seeing something more traditional next time.
A viewer shared, “Waiting for a video of your next Chinese wedding, but a traditional historical one!”
“Very Western sit-down dinner! Maybe show us a truly ethnic wedding, country style. Tradition is getting lost. Sad really as with modern day lifestyle I guess children won’t want to embrace the ‘old’ way of celebrations,” read another comment.
