Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), in its executive council meeting today, has passed a resolution for Vijay to be its CM candidate in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly Polls. The executive council has also stated that Vijay will be the sole decision maker in matters related to electoral alliances. While speaking at the meeting, TVK Chief Vijay openly declared that his party will never ally with ideological enemies and divisive forces. It is important to note that while launching TVK, Vijay had described the BJP as his party’s ideological enemy. “TVK is not DMK or ADMK to ally with the BJP for selfish political gains. We will never have any alliance with ideological enemies and divisive forces. We are very clear about this. Even if we form an alliance, any alliance under TVK will be against DMK and BJP. There’s no space for compromise in this stance,” he said. Vijay also went on to accuse the BJP of polarising people in the name of religion. “BJP’s evil attempts can work anywhere else in the country, but not in Tamil Nadu. The land of Tamil Nadu is known for its social justice and harmony. BJP can never do politics here by degrading our leaders such as Periyar, Annadurai etc..,” he added. TVK will have its second state-level conference in the month of August. Vijay will undertake a state tour between September and December as part of a mass public outreach campaign. During his speech, Vijay urged CM MK Stalin to meet protesting villagers from Parandur who are vehemently opposing a proposal pertaining to the establishment of a new airport. “The CM has to assure them that a new airport will not be constructed in Parandur. If he doesn’t do it, I’ll be forced to take the protesting villagers with me to the Secretariat for a meeting with him. I hope he won’t let such a situation unfold. Even if it happens, I’m ready to face it,” he said. TVK’s executive council passed a resolution condemning the BJP-led union government for its attempts to impose Hindi and Sanskrit in Tamil Nadu. Another resolution condemned CM MK Stalin for handing over the Sivaganga custodial death case to the CBI. “The CM has transferred this case to the CBI, not trusting his own state police department. Isn’t this an embarrassment to him and Tamil Nadu?” he asked.
