Nine parts of England that won't be hit by 36C heatwave next week

Nine counties in England are likely to miss out on the next heatwave expected in July . WX Charts’ weather maps have turned red for mid-month, signalling the upcoming period of intense heat. Temperatures could soar to a blistering 36C in certain areas . To be officially recognised as a heatwave, temperatures must surpass a specific threshold for three consecutive days, reports Birmingham Live . However, this threshold varies across the United Kingdom , ranging from 25C to 28C depending on location. The hot spell is predicted to commence on Friday, July 11, and persist until Tuesday, July 15, according to WX Charts. Numerous counties around the Midlands, South and South East, and East of England could meet the heatwave criteria during this period – including Birmingham and the West Midlands. Yet, WX Charts’ temperature maps indicate that nine counties may not experience this heatwave, namely: Cornwall, Devon, Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Merseyside, Cumbria, Durham, Northumberland and Tyne and Wear. The heatwave threshold stands at 25C for the South West of England, Northern England, most of Wales and Northern Ireland. Meanwhile, it rises to 27C in some parts of the South East and escalates to 28C in other areas of that region, including London. In its forecast covering July 7 to July 16, the Met Office stated: “Likely a fairly cool and showery start to the new week. Showers will tend to focus on northern and eastern areas of the UK, while parts of the south and west again become largely dry. “Through the rest of the week any rain will tend to focus on the north or northwest of the country, with the south becoming predominantly dry. ” Temperatures are likely to remain close to, perhaps a little below average initially. “However toward the following weekend there are signs that temperatures will begin to trend up, becoming warm or very warm once again, especially across southern parts of the UK, but perhaps more widely as we head toward the middle of July.” The news comes after we reported how Brits in eight areas of Scotland are being told to batten down the hatches and prep an emergency kit for a 33-hour deluge this weekend. The Met Office has sounded the alarm, urging people to gear up for torrential rain and potential flooding in the west of Scotland. The recent sunshine is set to give way to relentless rain, which could wreak havoc on travel plans. A yellow weather warning has been slapped on a large chunk of Scotland , flagging up the risk of intense rain and thunderstorms that could unleash floods across a swathe of the country. Met Office experts predict the wild weather could kick in within hours, with the yellow alert set to go live at 6am on Friday and run until 3pm on Saturday. People in the affected areas are being warned to steel themselves for “persistent, heavy rain” that’s poised to pound the region.
