Navi Mumbai: Airport Or Mini Holiday? NMIA Plans To Serve Local Flavours, Sightseeing & More Before You Fly

The soon-to-open Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) is set to change the way we think about airport dining.
Instead of the usual food courts filled with quick-service chains, NMIA will have a unique food hall offering specially curated menus.
Passengers can look forward to delicious dishes inspired by the spirit of Mumbai, with options for vegans, diabetics and those following Jain diets.
As per Free Press Journal, a senior official explained, 鈥淥ur food hall will offer a premium experience without premium prices. We want everyone to enjoy quality meals that reflect Mumbai鈥檚 vibrant food culture.鈥
Experiential Zones to Calm Pre-Flight Nerves
After passing through security, travellers will enter an experiential zone. This space will feature digital and physical displays celebrating famous landmarks of Mumbai, Maharashtra and India. The idea is to create a relaxing atmosphere to ease any pre-flight anxiety.
Outside the terminal, non-passengers are not forgotten. The airport will have a separate food court with popular restaurant and coffee shop brands. There will also be a gaming zone, a drivers鈥 canteen and a waiting lounge 鈥 making the airport welcoming for everyone who visits.
Sightseeing Before Take-Off
One of NMIA鈥檚 most exciting plans is to offer passengers the chance to book quick sightseeing trips to Lonavala and nearby scenic spots before they fly. Though still being finalised, this will make NMIA the first airport in India where travellers can fit in a mini holiday right before boarding.

The construction of Mumbai鈥檚 second city airport is nearly complete, with the grand opening expected in late August. As a joint venture between Adani Airports Holding Ltd and CIDCO, NMIA promises to deliver an airport experience like no other 鈥 blending local flavour, relaxation and adventure into every journey.
