Myleene Klass left in tears as she shares challenges of being a single mum

Myleene Klass, the multi-talented musician and TV personality, has opened up with a heartfelt message about her experiences as a single mum while celebrating her daughter Ava’s high school graduation.

The 46-year-old found herself navigating motherhood solo following her split from former husband Graham Quinn in 2013. The couple, who were married for two years, share two daughters old Ava, 17, and Hero, 13. The Loose Women panellist also has a 5-year-old son named Apollo with her current partner, fiance虂 Simon Motson, who himself brings two children from a past relationship into their blended family.

Taking to Myleene Klass Instagram page this week, the star shared a proud moment with her followers, posting a photo where she stood beaming next to her daughter Ava, both dressed to the nines for the graduation festivities.

The ITV favourite didn’t stop there; she also uploaded various snaps of her daughter, including heartwarming graduation moments and a throwback picture of Ava as a little girl.

In her emotional caption, Myleene penned: “My daughter Ava has finally graduated high school.”

She continued: “I haven’t cried so much in ages. It’s because I know our journey. And because of this, I wanted to acknowledge today in particular, the single Mamas (I know there are single dads but I can only speak from my own experience).”

She continued: “Like you, there were days bringing up Ava (and Hero) where it felt the world was fighting against us and I was very much on my own. We have an amazing community around us but as a single mum when they were so young, the fear, the loneliness, the decision making, the mental load before everything else is considered, can really overwhelm.

“There were people who wanted to see me fail and to them as well as the majority who wanted to see us win, thank you for spurring me on.”

Expanding on her heartfelt message, she expressed: “Today is recognition of what we have achieved, I had no intention of failing my children. Ava, I have single handedly grafted so that you might have the best I could give you and you have in turn risen up and grabbed everything with gusto, determination and resilience. You are fiesty, fearless and stronger than I could have ever imagined yet soft, loving and kind in equal measure.

“In the days I wondered where I would get the strength, it came from my girls. When they worry about me and how much I take on, I remind them, I’m forged from the fire. Single Mamas, I see you and so do our babies. Well done, keep on keeping on x.”

Wrapping up her touching tribute, Myleene declared: “And to my eldest daughter, my Ava bear, my day one, my forever love, thank you for choosing me to be your Mama.

“You are talented, smart, intuitive and an exceptional human being. My sun rises and sets with you. Go out and see the world on your terms baby girl. Just remember to come home every once in a while to tell Mama all about it. X. Klass of 2025, Dismissed.”

The post was a hit among fans, quickly amassing over 16,000 likes, including one from her Loose Women colleague Christine Lampard.

Fellow celebs also chimed in with their support in the comments, with Britain’s Got Talent’s Amanda Holden sharing: “Oh darling. This made me cry.”

TV favourite Lisa Snowdon left crying and love heart emojis, while Little Mix’s Perrie Edwards congratulated: “Congratulations beautiful talented Ava!”.

Myleene received heaps of praise from admirers too, with one fan declaring: “Myleene you are a powerhouse of woman and one amazing mama never forget that.”

This heartfelt message follows Myleene’s recent revelations about her younger daughter Hero’s frightening health scare when she ‘turned blue’.

Discussing the harrowing incident on the We’re Not Getting Any Younger podcast, Myleene recounted the terrifying moment Hero turned blue and collapsed from choking.
