Local authorities are on standby, and citizens are advised to avoid unnecessary travel, especially during peak rain hours.
Meanwhile, the coastal districts of Raigad and Ratnagiri have been placed under an orange alert for the same period. These areas could witness heavy to very heavy rainfall, with the risk of flash floods and landslides in vulnerable zones. On the weekend – July 6 in particular – Mumbai is expected to experience intense downpours, accompanied by strong winds in some pockets, according to the IMD forecast. The weather department has maintained a yellow alert for the city, while orange alerts remain in force for parts of Konkan.
