Mumbai Teen Pushes 15-Year-Old Girl Off Terrace After A Heated 'Dating' Argument

A minor boy in Mumbai pushed off a 15-year-old girl from the terrace of a building. In the preliminary investigation, the incident appeared to be the matter of suicide. However, through CCTV footage and other evidences, police figured out the actual incident. The incident occurred on June 24, the victim arrived at a housing society in Bhandup (West) area to meet the boy.
As per the officials, they were discussing academic stress and then took her atop a water tank on the terrace of the building鈥檚 D-wing. Their conversation got intense and they started fighting over dating. During the argument, the boy allegedly pushed the girl, she fell and later succumbed to her injuries.
Subsequently, the boy threw girl鈥檚 mobile phone from the terrace near E-wing. This raised police鈥檚 suspicion as victim鈥檚 phone was found afar from her body. During the investigation, the boy told the police that the victim had committed suicide by jumping from a window between the 30th and 31st floors due to study-related stress.
As per a report by the Times of India, after pushing the girl, the accused was seen descending alone to the 30th floor and then the ground level. He proceeded to the society gym and seemed normal.
When he quizzed by the police, his story had inconsistency and local residents also gave statement contradicting to what he said. In the initial statement, boy claimed that the victim jumped off from a window between the 30th and 31st floors. But when the building residents were asked, a woman living on the 32nd floor told the police that she heard two persons arguing, and on checking she found the boy standing alone.
When she asked him about the fight, he said he didn鈥檛 hear anything and came to meet his friend. Police found other similar stances to suspect the boy and finally he was detained.
He confessed to the crime after being detained on the basis of building鈥檚 CCTV footage and statements of the residents. A case on charges of murder was registered against the boy on Monday night and he was presented in court and remanded to a children鈥檚 home.
