Movie fans rush to snap up new Jaws merchandise as Spielberg cult-classic hits 50

Despite being 104 days over schedule and going over 100% over budget, Jaws became one of the biggest box office hits ever . The film catapulted the career of its director Steven Spielberg and the made the 鈥淒a dum, Da dum鈥 theme tune then, and still today, one of the most recognisable pieces of music ever created . So, these three men on the hunt for the killer creature off the coast of Amity Island, the mechanical shark (apologies we forgot the spoiler alert) went by the name of Bruce and constantly malfunctioned, the weather caused delays but gave the team more time to focus on creating more suspense in the film and, well, they certainly did that. An enduring masterpiece that even inspired the naming of the stainless-steel teeth toting baddie in a couple of 007 films. The merchandise bandwagon is in overdrive to celebrate five decades since the film was released, there鈥檚 so much stuff, you too may need a bigger boat to land your haul. Here’s a few of our favourites: Portrayed in the film as a 25-foot swimmer we鈥檙e told Great Whites can only really achieve a maximum of 15 feet in length, artistic licence very much uses on set it seems. This shrunken version at six inches is ready to lie stealthily on display, the air tank in its mouth showing its dark side despite a friendly looking disposition. This 1,500 plus piece set has the three main characters minfigured and came to life through the LEGO Ideas channel where fans submit sets for approval and this one made it to shelves. Superb detail on-board you can set the brick-built shark to be taking a bite out of the boat or put it on its own pedestal. The packaging on this set is superb, a real retro treat from which you can release the crew, craft and of course Bruce (the swimmy one with big teeth). More of a hands-on and play toy it鈥檒l float for added reality to your role play of those favourite scenes. Dried off out of the tub it is still a shelf-worthy display piece. If there is one thing that the Great White protagonist could offer in terms of practical assistance, we鈥檇 say that opening bottle would be a key skill. Offering a nod to the potential top-popping it could do with ease is this is far easier to handle accessory. For a more subtle display piece is this Willy Wonka-esque golden ticket inviting folk to Amity Island to celebrate the 4 th of July. This gold-plated ingot is a limited edition of 1,975 units and has a display stand inside. For something a little more immersive consider this quite superb game that captures many scenes from the film. It takes 2-4 players about an hour to play, takes a little learning but you鈥檒l be glad you did. One player menaces the island of Amity while the other players go on the hunt as Brody, Hooper and Quint. Squeeze your fishing supplies inside this shoulder bag, ok, perhaps your swimming kit. The detail on the bag is just fine but for us it really is all about the teeth. Far from sinister the bag, slung over shoulder, is likely to inspire admiring smiles. You鈥檒l need to register your interest to secure this anniversary edition of a similar game released back in 1975. Some of the tension, none of the danger as you retrieve various pieces from the shark鈥檚 mouth before, and it could happen at any moment, the Jaws snap shut and grab your spear. Bringing together a few elements from the film all into one item is executed perfectly by the team at Numskull right here, and it happens to serve more purpose than just loitering on the shelf looking good. It is a wireless charger, iPhone, Samsung and other QI wireless charger-enabled devices.
