Udupi: Local MLA Yash Pal Suvarna, accompanied by Municipal President Prabhakar Poojary and civic officials, conducted an inspection of the Udupi Hi-Tech Fish Market, which falls under the Municipal Council鈥檚 jurisdiction.
During the visit, women fish vendors raised several pressing issues. They requested a drinking water connection, the construction of a protective wall around the existing well, dressing and rest rooms, a solar energy system, and CCTV installation to enhance security and working conditions.
Responding positively, MLA Suvarna assured immediate action. He directed municipal officials to prepare cost estimates and submit proposals without delay. He emphasized that the Municipal Council would give special focus to improving the market鈥檚 infrastructure, ensuring better amenities for both the women fish sellers and customers.
He added that the fish market, being located in the heart of Udupi city, deserves upgraded facilities to support the livelihood of local fish vendors.
Also present at the visit were Baby H. Salyan, President of the Udupi Taluk Raw Fish Sellers Association, Municipal Council member Manasa C. Pai, Commissioner Mahantesh Hangargi, and other officials including Ravi Prakash and Karthik.
