Two sisters, ages 12 and 15, were found safe and sound by police on the Essequibo Coast late Thursday evening, nearly five days after they were reported missing from their home in Sisters Village, East Berbice, Region Six.
At approximately 8:00 pm, ranks from the Guyana Police Force on mobile patrol received information that led them to the Supenaam waterfront in Region Two. There, they discovered the girls resting in a hammock.
According to police reports, the girls explained that they had left their home to travel to Parika, after which they boarded a speedboat to the Essequibo Coast. They stated they were 鈥渓ooking for someone.鈥 Efforts are underway to have the person contacted as indicated by the sisters.
The mother of the children was notified by police and arrangements were made for her to receive them.
