It was no longer a secret, now the cooperation between Microsoft and Meta is officially: the limited meta Quest 3S Xbox Edition combines VR with Xbox-Gaming. The black and green headset comes with suitable controllers and game pass access.
Xbox enters the virtual reality
Microsoft and Meta have expanded their partnership and presented the first limited edition of a quest headset. The Meta Quest 3S Xbox Edition is now available in the USA and Great Britain for $399.99 or 拢 369. The VR headset comes in the striking Xbox design with a black basic color and green accents-to match the Xbox branding.
The bad news: The headset is not available in German -speaking countries. In addition to the 128 GB VR headset, the Xbox Edition also includes suitable Touch-Plus controllers in a black and green design and a limited Xbox Wireless controller. To this end, the elite strap is for better wearing comfort and three months of Meta Horizon+ and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. The supplied Xbox controller is already linked to the headset and immediately enables access to the Xbox app. Microsoft and Meta present the limited quest 3S Xbox Edition
How Toms Guide thinks, the bundle with everything that is included-the quest 3S ($ 299), an Xbox controller ($ 69), three months Game Pass Ultimate ($ 60) and three months Meta Horizon+ ($ 24)-is an excellent price-performance ratio for everyone who wants to start with VR gaming. The surcharge of $ 100 compared to the Standard Quest 3S appears quite justified. The well -known technology of the regular meta quest 3S is under the hood. This means: A Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 processor with eight GB RAM ensures the necessary performance. The display dissolves with 1832 x 1920 pixels per eye and offers a pixel density of 773 ppi.
In contrast to the more expensive quest 3, the 3S variant uses Fresnellinsen instead of the higher quality pancacle lenses and offers a slightly smaller field of vision of 96 degrees horizontally and 90 degrees vertically. The Quest 3S supports both virtual reality and mixed reality with its four cameras on the front. These enable the so-called PASSHROUGH feature, in which the real environment is shown in the VR experience. Depending on the application, the battery life is between two and three hours. The real special feature of the Xbox Edition lies in the seamless integration with the Xbox ecosystem.
Meta has adapted the quest furnishing process to integrate the black and green design of the headset and the controller into the user interface. The Xbox Edition VR headset is even preset to start directly into the Xbox app. The Xbox app on the Quest 3S Xbox Edition enables the streaming of games via Xbox Cloud Gaming. This requires an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription, but Microsoft has settled a three-month code that works for both new and existing game pass subscribers. The games can either be played in a virtual screen in the Passhrough mode or in an immersive Xbox theme room that hides potential distractions in the real environment.
Limited availability
Meta and Microsoft initially only launch the Quest 3S Xbox Edition in the USA and Great Britain. 鈥淭he quantities are extremely limited,鈥 warns Lori Wright, Corporate Vice President of Gaming Partnerships at Microsoft, opposite The verge.
