Prime Video’s Countdown is bringing a murder, an undercover investigation and a race against the clock to save Los Angeles to the small screen.
The thriller, which released its first three episodes on June 25, features a star-studded cast, including Jensen Ackles and Eric Dane, and delves into a covert task force’s mission to thwart a catastrophic threat.
Ackles plays Mark Meachum, who he described as a “rogue L.A. detective” who “takes risks that most people wouldn’t take” in a May 2025 interview with Entertainment Weekly. Ackles noted that fans of his previous work will find Meachum to be a “familiar taste” to some of his past characters.
“I mean, I played Dean for 15 years. I loved playing that kind of a character. And I think this guy is in the vein of that, just with a completely different set of circumstances,” he said, referring to his iconic role as Dean Winchester in Supernatural.
Dane, for his part, takes on the role of special agent Nathan Blythe, with Countdown marking his first released project since publicly revealing his ALS diagnosis to PEOPLE in April 2025.
While the show’s plot is packed with tension and danger, the cast’s real-life relationships are a bit more grounded. Ackles has been married to his wife, Danneel Ackles, since 2010, while Dane and his wife, Rebecca Gayheart, wed in 2004.
From public marriages to private romances, here’s a look at the real-life relationships of the Countdown cast.
