McDonald鈥檚 is ending its partnership with Krispy Kreme. All Krispy Kreme doughnuts will be removed from the menus across 2,400 participating locations starting July 2, 2025, the companies confirmed on June 24. The discontinued items include: Original Glazed DoughnutChocolate Iced with Sprinkles DoughnutChocolate Iced Kreme Filled Doughnut These were sold either individually or in packs of six, along with other McDonald鈥檚 desserts like Oreo McFlurrys and Hot Fudge Sundaes. The partnership began as a small experiment in late 2023 at 160 McDonald鈥檚 locations in Kentucky. By October 2024, it expanded to Chicago-area outlets. The companies reportedly had plans to go nationwide with their offer by the end of 2026. But those plans have now been scrapped. Ultimately, efforts to bring our costs in line with unit demand were unsuccessful, making the partnership unsustainable for us.鈥 As per AP, the decision to discontinue came after the sales failed to meet expectations at scale. The joint offer ended even though initial pilot tests had exceeded the demand projections. Krispy Kreme now plans to focus on expanding its own distribution network. McDonald鈥檚 will reportedly turn its attention back to strengthening its breakfast menu.
