Max Verstappen 'refused to film one scene' ahead of Brad Pitt's F1 movie

Max Verstappen reportedly refused to shoot with Brad Pitt for the much-anticipated Formula 1 film . The film, which has been in production for years, has captured footage from real F1 events, leading to a host of drivers making cameo appearances, including Verstappen . That involvement includes a scene extensively used in marketing for the movie, where Pitt’s fictional character, Sonny Hayes, stands ready for the national anthem at the British Grand Prix adjacent to Verstappen and other drivers, shot at the 2023 Silverstone race. However, Verstappen’s enthusiasm about his Hollywood appearance has been notably subdued. His apparent indifference was highlighted by his refusal to change his schedule to help in promotional efforts for the film. The Telegraph reports that Verstappen apparently turned down a chance to film an additional nightclub sequence alongside Hollywood A-lister Pitt. The length of the scene and the potential increase in screen presence it promised remain unknown, but Verstappen seemingly wasn’t interested. Recently, Verstappen turned down an invitation to attend a prestigious screening in Monaco, favouring an evening in with an online sim race instead. He defended his decision, stating: “I told Formula One Management way in advance that I would not be there that evening. They knew about that.” Verstappen, a new dad to baby daughter Lily, said: “I just wanted to spend more time at home. It wasn’t a mandatory event either, it was just my private time. And I prefer to spend that private time at home, especially because in Formula One you’re away from home so much already. “Wanting to spend more time at home on days like that is pretty normal, I think. Now that the family is growing, then I definitely prefer to spend more time at home.” Despite his fast-track lifestyle, Verstappen chose not to fly to New York City for the world premiere of the film in Times Square immediately after the Canadian Grand Prix. He was also noticeably missing from the European launch at London’s Leicester Square earlier this week, an event most drivers also missed. While the majority of drivers featured in the film had minor roles, a few agreed to take on more significant parts. Lewis Hamilton, who served as an executive producer, assisted the filmmakers with ensuring the film’s authenticity. Meanwhile, Fernando Alonso dedicated time to filming a scene in the media pen where he interacts with Pitt’s character.
