Ahead of this year’s Comic-Con, which runs July 24 through July 27 in San Diego, CA, Mattel announced on Wednesday, June 25 that it will be adding four beloved main characters to its roster of toys.
These include the irreverent Little People Collector Deadpool; the villainous mashup Masters of the Universe Turtles of Grayskull Skele-Shredder; the powerful T. “This year at San Diego Comic-Con, Mattel is celebrating some of the most iconic characters across entertainment and fandom,” said Nick Karamanos, senior vice president, Mattel Creations & Entertainment Partnerships at Mattel. “From the chaos of Deadpool to the epic crossover of Skele-Shredder to the infamous Jurassic World T. rex and the undeniable legacy of John Cena, each collectible is designed to deliver that main character moment 鈥 and bring a little extra thrill to fans鈥 shelves.”
For WWE fans, the Cena toy honors his record-setting 17 World Heavyweight Championship reigns and comes complete with era-specific accessories and premium detailing.
The Deadpool toy takes Ryan Reynolds’ Merc with a Mouth on an unexpected detour to a taco-fueled farm universe. The reimagined superhero comes packed inside a whimsical, rainbow-shaped box. “It鈥檚 Deadpool, dialed up to 11, with friends, food, and full-on farmyard mayhem,” said Mattel in a press release.
Meanwhile the Skele-Shredder Deluxe Figure includes interchangeable heads, dynamic weapons, and an intricately crafted throne. It comes packaged in a collector-worthy box featuring an immersive unboxing experience. For the uninitiated, Skele-Shredder is a mash-up of the villains Skeletor from He-Man and the Masters of the Universe and Shredder from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
And lastly, for Jurassic Park fans, the 鈥淏uck鈥 T. Rex from 1997’s The Lost World: Jurassic Park, makes its Mattel debut as part of a premium collector鈥檚 set packed with unique SDCC touches and bonus content. The box set delivers a fresh take on a fan-favorite moment from the Steven Spielberg sequel.
