Manchester Oxford Road latest as trains cancelled after Hotspur Press fire

Rail passengers are set for a second day of disruption after a huge fire broke out at the historic Hotspur Press . The iconic city centre building has been ravaged by fire which broke out on Monday afternoon (June 23). Crews remain at the scene this morning (Tuesday), with a stretch of Whitworth Street West remaining closed off. FOLLOW LIVE UPDATES FROM THE SCENE HERE. Lines running through Manchester Oxford Road railway station were closed on Monday evening as the blaze erupted. Most services are now running through the station with railway lines reopened. But commuters are being warned to expect disruption this morning – particularly on TransPennine Express services. All TransPennine Express trains are currently cancelled at Manchester Oxford Road, with passengers being urged to travel via Manchester Victoria instead. It is affecting services running to and from Liverpool Lime Street, Manchester Airport , York, Glasgow and Edinburgh. Trains between Oxford Road and Cleethorpes, Darlington, Lancaster, Redcar Central and Saltburn are also affected. TransPennine Express ticketholders can use Avanti West Coast, East Midlands Railway, Metrolink and Northern services to reach their destination at no extra cost while the issue remains ongoing. The latest update from National Rail says: “Following a fire next to the track at Manchester Oxford Road, all lines have reopened. “As service recovers, trains may still be cancelled or revised.
