A year after being unveiled as the main sponsor of Malta鈥檚 Premier League, the much-touted 鈥榮uper app鈥 service promised by the title sponsor remains unavailable, leaving fans and stakeholders waiting. 360Sports鈥 social media presence and website have also gone dormant. Owned and led by Azerbaijan oil and gas magnate Nasib Piriyev, 360Sports was given naming rights to the Premier League last June in the run-up to the 2024-25 season. The 360Sports agreement was the first title sponsorship under a new format in which an association run by Premier League clubs manages Malta鈥檚 top-flight football competition. That association 鈥 Malta Premier League 鈥 is chaired by former prime minister Joseph Muscat, who has been described as the mastermind behind the sponsorship deal. When the agreement was announced, journalists were told 360Sports would be pumping 鈧600,000 over a period of three years into Malta鈥檚 top-flight football league. The Malta Premier League said 360Sports has maintained its financial obligations. Back in June last year, the company had said it was developing a sports 鈥榮uper app鈥 that would combine video, social media, e-sports, e-commerce and betting capabilities into one. But even after the end of the first 鈥360Sports Malta Premier鈥 season, those services are still unavailable. The company鈥檚 website remains sparse, featuring a promo video, biographies about 360Sports management, and little detail about the product. The website, however, still says that its full product launch 鈥渨ill happen in 2024鈥. The company鈥檚 latest Facebook post is dated October last year. Company registered in the UK Times of Malta reported in July 2024 that the company had still not been registered, and so technically did not exist. Asked about its registration status, 360Sports owner Nasib Piriyev said the company had initially intended to establish a Maltese entity for its Malta operations. However, in the middle of the process to register, the company charged with incorporating 360Sports into the Maltese business register withdrew, Piriyev said. 鈥淵our article led our incorporation agent to withdraw mid-process, citing reputational concerns. That decision caused disruption and cost to us, and we made the pragmatic choice to proceed from the UK in line with our wider investment structure,鈥 the company CEO said, citing Times of Malta鈥檚 report from last year. He said the company was incorporated in the UK last August instead. Asked about the dormant state of the company website and social media, Piriyev said: 鈥淲hile our own public channels may appear quiet, this has been a deliberate choice. In this early stage, we have prioritised product development, private testing, and commercial alignment with our partners. 鈥淧ublic engagement has primarily taken place through the Malta Premier League鈥檚 official platforms, as agreed locally. As we move toward broader product rollout, our branded channels will reflect those developments more visibly.鈥 He said the 360Sports app is currently in private testing, and some elements of the product are scheduled for a phased release. 鈥淢alta remains a valuable pilot market for us 鈥 not the lead launch market, but an important environment for calibration and commercial testing.鈥 He said the company was also committed to supporting the long-term success of the Premier League. Replying to questions, a spokesperson for the Malta Premier League said 360Sports have kept their side of the financial deal with the league. Times of Malta asked the Malta Premier League, among other things, if the association was concerned about its reputation because of issues around their title sponsor, and if they were informed of when 360Sports鈥 product would be launched. 鈥淥ur title sponsors have kept their side of the financial deal with us. The MPL has no visibility on the operational side of the business, but we have been kept abreast of operational issues that have delayed the launch. New major and exciting announcements from the Malta Premier League side will be made soon.鈥
