A primary school has been forced to close “due to a major incident near the main entrance” as police cordon off the nearby streets. A large scale emergency response has been prompted after police closed off streets close to Jenner Park Primary School in Barry, Wales. South Wales Police raced to the town this morning in response to the “serious incident” but the force haven’t yet released further information surrounding the nature of the problem, reports the Mirror . An image from the scene showed officers standing guard behind police tape as two figures are seen wearing forensic suits at the opposite end of the street. Further photographs showed more forensics staff equipped with cameras. Parents received an alarming message from the school warning them to a “major incident”. Jenner Park Primary School said in a message: “Unfortunately the school will be closed today on the advice of South Wales Police due to a major incident near the main entrance which has meant the surrounding streets have had to be cordoned off. Therefore school is inaccessible.” A local business which has been hit by a road closure has shared their ” shock ” after the major incident was declared. Serkan Evren, manager of Tuck In Cafe, told BBC: “There’s police tape and the road is still blocked. People are shocked and worried. We have a primary school here, so it’s worrying for people.” Vale of Glamorgan Council urged people to avoid the area as the authority announced four road closures. The Council issued an alert and said: 鈥淧lease note there are emergency road closures in the following locations due to a serious incident this morning: “Barry Road junction of Herbert Street and Davies Street, Barry Road near Tuck in Cafe, Court Road junction of Davies Street, Court Road junction of Hannah Street. South Wales Police are on the scene. Please avoid the area.鈥 A police spokesperson said: “Officers are at the scene of an incident in Barry Road, Barry.
