Major Birmingham New Street Station update as one route still down

The majority of rail services have resumed at Birmingham New Street Station after a damaged overhead cable sparked mass cancellations. Passengers were stranded after all train services stopped running around 2pm on Wednesday (July 2). Engineers worked through the night to repair the wires and restore power and West Midlands Railway have said all train operators are running as normal except between Birmingham New Street and Lichfield Trent Valley via the Cross City North line. Read More: Birmingham New Street live as travel chaos enters day two with services to be disrupted for hours West Midlands Railway said: “All train operators’ services are now running more or less as normal on the majority of routes to/from Birmingham New Street. “No trains are able to run between Birmingham New Street and Lichfield Trent Valley (Cross City North line) and rail replacement buses are in operation. “This is the position until further notice while Network Rail engineers work to repair the damaged wires. “Due to the extent of the repair needed we expect the line to remain closed for most of today (Thursday). “Passengers are advised to check their journeys before travelling and leave extra time if using the Cross City North route.” Meanwhile tickets can be used on the following National Express West Midlands routes
