Minister for School Education Madhu Bangarappa, who is also the Minister in charge of Shivamogga district, inspected the construction of the Hasirumakki bridge and the Sigandur bridge in Sagar taluk on Friday.

He visited Hasirumakki where a 1,155-metre-long bridge across the backwater of Sharavati was being constructed at a cost of ₹125.67 crore.

Mr. Madhu Bangarappa said that the bridge was sanctioned due to the efforts of former Minister Kagodu Thimmappa.

The project benefit those who were affected by the construction of the Linganamakki Dam across the Sharavati river. Besides the local residents, the bridge would reduce the distance between the Malnad and coastal regions.

Those who travel to Udupi, Mangaluru, Kundapura, Bhatkal, and Kollur would benefit from the project, which would be completed by May 2026, the Minister said.

Later, the Minister inspected the cable-stayed bridge that connects Kalasavalli and Ambaragodlu. The construction of the bridge is in the final stages.
