Love Island fan theories aren’t always accurate, but it appears viewers were right on the money when it comes to their latest realisation.
Eagle-eyed fans noticed that Irish stars Megan Forte Clarke and Conor Phillips had a connection that went well beyond the villa, and now Megan has admitted that it is true… sort of!
The recently axed Islander revealed that Limerick lad Conor has had a crush on her long before they graced our screens in Mallorca.
The pair actually go back four years, on Conor’s part at least. The rugby player had been pursuing the Dubliner on social media, having slid into her DMs and commented on her posts.
However, he clearly didn’t tickle 24-year-old Megan’s fancy on the outside world, as she admitted she never noticed his efforts.
‘It’s so funny, right? On day one, Conor told me that he had followed me on Instagram four years ago, and I had never followed him back,’ she told Heatworld.
‘But then, since coming out, I’ve seen that he follows me on TikTok and he’s actually commented on one of my TikToks,’ Megan continued. ‘Again, I’d not followed him back or even realised he had commented on one.’
‘So, yeah, it’s nice that he’s still trying four years later. It’s worked out for him now, I suppose,’ she laughed. God loves a trier… or tryer in rugby star Conor’s case!
The pair shook things up in the villa when they decided to get together, leaving their respective partners, Emily and Tommy, blindsided.
This resulted in Megan being voted the least favourite girl by the public after clashing with villa sweetheart Tommy.
Megan was subsequently dumped from the island, with Conor asking her to wait for him in the outside world, while he remained in the villa.
However, Megan confirmed that she won’t be waiting for him if he continues to ‘crack on’ with other girls while she is gone.
