Lions’ generosity protects donkeys

Donkey Dreamland, the sanctuary dedicated to rescuing and caring for donkeys in Mijas, is set to begin construction on a new quarantine paddock, dubbed “Lion’s Paddock,” after its generous donors.

The project, made possible by a generous donation from the La Cala de Mijas Lions Club, will provide a safe and secure space for new rescues, including a foal named Leon and his mother, Antonella.

The paddock fencing, built with the highest-quality materials was recently delivered and will serve as a critical quarantine area for donkeys arriving without vaccinations, deworming, or those exhibiting fear or aggression. This dedicated space ensures new arrivals can adjust safely before joining the sanctuary’s other donkeys. “This has been a long-time goal for us,” Richie O’Connor from Donkey Dreamland shared. “Thanks to the Lions Club, we can now provide a proper environment for our donkeys to begin their new lives.”

The sanctuary expressed deep gratitude to the La Cala de Mijas Lions Club for their support in bettering the facility and improving the lives of rescued donkeys.
