I am still waiting for a worthy candidate to run for Mayor of Edmonton. Look around. Is the city better than it was a few years ago? Double digit annual tax increases for worse service and an unsafe, degrading city. None of our current councillors could find one, not one thing to cut out of the budget when the public was rather quick to point out a dozen projects or more that could be scrapped because we don’t want to pay for them especially when we can’t afford them. $100M for bike lanes, I am looking at you, for a start. None of our current councillors deserve to be on council, let alone be promoted to Mayor. I am hoping the party system will present us with a worthy option. I am not asking for much, just a mayor and council with no hidden agenda that will respect taxpayers money and put us over their pet projects. To date, everyone on council has failed. Let’s get back to basics. All we need for a start is a worthy candidate for mayor.
(We need a council that addresses the basics first.)
NO BIG LOSS
Kane gone is good. He’s not tough. Ask Chara.
GARY ROBINSON
(Two things: 1] Many nights Kane was the toughest Oilers player on the ice; 2] Nobody was tough compared to Chara — the man is a giant.)
PARTY MANDATE
Re EV mandate: Jay Goldberg, Lorrie Goldstein, Brian Lilley, Rick Bell, and federal auditor general Karen Hogan should form a new political party and save Canada. This group think they are so much smarter than everyone else and have all the answers. God help us.
KEN HUSBAND
(It’s shocking in the face of the evidence, the Liberals are plowing ahead with it. This is a decision based purely on ideology — not logic.)
MILITARY TARGET EASY
It will be easy to hit our 5% of GDP target for military spending. We simply just have to convert all military equipment (tanks, airplanes, subs, etc.) to run off renewable energy. The other option would be to reduce the denominator of the equation by eliminating all natural resource extraction like Trudeau was trying to do.
DAVID PASOLLI
(That’s quite the idea. You think many of our peace keeping locations have decent charging stations?)
