Kolkata student rape case: Special Task Force prepares list of students present during incident for questioning

The Special Task Force (STF), investigating the rape, has prepared a list of law college students who were present when the rape happened on Wednesday. They will be questioned by the 8-member STF. Every student from the list will be questioned. The main accused, Manojit Mishra, has reportedly denied the allegations, police said. The seven-hour CCTV footage has been recovered from the college, which has been corroborated by the police with the statement of the victim.Recording of confidential statements of the victim’s parents is likely. Three mobile phones of the accused have been seized and sent for forensic testing at the Central Forensic Laboratory. Police are trying to recover the call data of the accused from that day, and call data recordings have been sought from service providers, people in the know said.Police are also considering conducting DNA tests of the victim and family members, sources said. The five-member Special Task Force has been increased to nine, to expedite the probe.A medical examination of the victim confirmed sexual assault, neck bruises, abrasion marks on the chest, and application of force on the victim, people in the know told ET.Live EventsThe video footage, which was used to blackmail the victim on the day of the incident and was mentioned in her complaint attached to the FIR, has reportedly been recovered from one of the accused鈥檚 mobile phones, people in the know said. A forensic team visited the college to collect evidence from the place of occurrence. A hockey stick has been recovered from the spot. The victim, in her complaint, has alleged that an attempt was made to beat her with the hockey stick.Meanwhile, Union Minister for Education Dharmendra Pradhan, in Kolkata, said Mamata Banerjee must take responsibility for the rape incident in Kolkata law college, which has happened after the RG Kar incident. Pradhan slammed the Bengal government on women鈥檚 safety and how a woman was raped inside an educational institution.
