KKCCI urges swift action against unauthorised vendors and environmental hazards in Kalaburagi city

The Kalyana Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KKCCI) has raised concerns about increasing encroachments and environmental hazards in the heart of Kalaburagi city.

A delegation of traders from the locality met KKCCI president Sharanabasappa M. Pappa and honorary secretary Shivraj V. Inginishetty at the latter鈥檚 office on Saturday to discuss the issue. The traders said that pavements on either side of the stretch connecting the Hanuman temple near China Bazaar to the SBI branch had been illegally occupied by unauthorised vegetable vendors.

鈥淭he unauthorised vendors have built low-level platforms and temporary structures beneath regular and authorised shops and are conducting business in a disorderly and unrestricted manner. These encroachments are obstructing access to authorised shops, affecting footfall, and leading to a daily decline in business,鈥 Mr. Pappa told presspersons after the meeting.

Mr. Pappa also raised environmental concerns, pointing out that the chaotic operations of these vendors in the already crowded area have led to increased pollution, posing a serious threat to public health.

鈥淔ruit and vegetable vendors dumping their rotten produce directly onto the main roads at night is further worsening the situation, deteriorating cleanliness and endangering public health. Despite repeated appeals, the authorities have taken no action. In light of these growing problems, we urge the municipal and civic departments to take immediate and effective steps to restore order and cleanliness in the area.鈥

Mr. Pappa warned that if no action was taken in response to these legitimate concerns, the KKCCI, along with affected traders would be compelled to launch a strong public protest, including a road blockade.
