King Charles told 'I've got your back' by Hollywood A-lister after career decision

An A-list actress has told King Charles that she’s got his “back” after taking on an ambassador role at one of the monarch’s charities. Kate Winslet, the Oscar-winning ‘The Reader’ actress best known for her starring role alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in 1997’s Titanic, recently took on the position for The King’s Foundation.

Launched in 1990, the foundation is a charity founded by Charles while he was Prince of Wales, inspired by his philosophy of ‘harmony’. It covers a range of sectors, including education, sustainability, farming, arts and crafts and health.

The Mare of Easttown actress has now joined the ranks of other big celebrities who’ve taken up the ambassador mantle, including names like Sir Rod Stewart, Penny Lancaster, David Beckham and Sienna Miller.

However, it’s not a responsibility the actress takes lightly. Speaking at an awards ceremony for the charity in St James’s Palace about two weeks ago, she promised the King that she would “be all in”, reports the i Paper.

She said: “Don’t worry, I’ll be all in – I’ve got your back. One of my passions is exploring ways that we can protect and promote the natural world – something I have in common with His Majesty.”

Kate, elaborating further in a video, said the foundation’s work safeguarding the world and inspiring young people to learn about the “beautiful” countryside was “deeply important” to her.

The King’s Foundation, headquartered at Dumfries House in Ayrshire, Scotland, operates in locations across the Commonwealth, running projects with the help of governments and local partners.

In other news, King Charles was recently all smiles when he encountered a gorilla puppet at a reception at Lancaster House. During the event, artists manipulated life-sized animal puppets, much to Charles’ amusement.

In photos and footage from the event, Charles can be spotted standing near a gorilla puppet, to which he reached out before giving its hand a squeeze as it was moved about before him.

Meanwhile, the King will reportedly encounter a family dilemma with Prince Harry when he returns to the UK for the Invictus Games in 2027. It turns out that the closing ceremony falls on the same day as Queen Camilla’s 78th birthday.

It’s believed that the Duke of Sussex, who lives in California, will extend an olive branch to his father, with reports indicating that he intends to send him both an electronic and formal invitation to the huge event.

It was also recently announced that US president Donald Trump would be visiting the UK to meet the monarch. In fact, Buckingham Palace has confirmed that officials had taken his invitation to the White House.

Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner told Parliament: “We are really pleased the US president is coming for a second state visit.”
