Kerala seeks $1.1 billion in compensation from MSC over oil spill

Kerala has initiated legal action against Mediterranean Shipping Company, seeking $1.1 billion in damages following the sinking of the MSC ELSA3 in May. The incident led to fuel leakage and cargo release, causing significant pollution to Kerala’s marine ecosystem. The Kerala high court has ordered the seizure of another MSC vessel until securities are deposited.
