BRS MLC and Telangana Jagruthi president K. Kavitha has questioned the silence of top Congress leaders, including AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, on the issue of 42% reservation in local bodies, education, and government jobs for BCs.
Speaking, after unveiling the poster of Rail Roko, scheduled for July 17, under the auspices of Telangana Jagruthi and United Progressive Front (UPF), at her residence here on Thursday, she expressed her displeasure over the ‘silence’ of senior Congress leaders on the quota issue.
Ms. Kavitha said that she had written to Mr. Kharge urging him to suggest the State government to conduct local body elections only after the BC reservation issue was finalised.
Questioning Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy about why he was not leading an all-party delegation to the Centre to press for finalisation of the BC reservation issue, the BRS MLC demanded a delegation to reach out to the Centre by July 8.
She also demanded that the government disclose the Independent Expert Working Group’s report on Social Economic Education Employment Political and Caste (SEEEPC).
Ms. Kavitha added that she had written a letter requesting BJP State president N. Ramchander Rao to put pressure on the Centre to approve the BC Bills. She suggested that he take a special initiative to get the Bills approved, which would be his first victory as BJP chief.
Regarding the rail roko call, she warned that every train going to Delhi would be stopped on that day. When asked if BRS would support the move, she confirmed that her party would indeed support it.
