Abhishek Bachchan starrer Kaalidhar Laapataa has been released on the OTT platform and is getting love from all corners. Recently, director Madhumita, known for her critically acclaimed film KD 鈥 The Devil, has shared Amitabh Bachchan鈥檚 reaction after reading the script. She mentioned that the legend called it 鈥渓ovely.鈥 For the filmmaker, the reaction has been the most treasured reward so far.
In an exclusive conversation with Zoom, director Madhumita shared Amitabh Bachchan鈥檚 reaction and said, 鈥淢adhumita congratulations. I read the script. Abhishek told me about the film and it鈥檚 a lovely script鈥. What other accolade or prize do you need to have? It was the biggest blessing and pat on the back.鈥
She also shared her reaction after meeting Amitabh Bachchan, Madhumita told us, 鈥淒uring rehearsals at Abhishek sir鈥檚 office, I was sitting and talking about the film with him and our writer. Suddenly, out of nowhere, I saw a person standing and I lost my breath because it was Amitabh sir standing there in that office. He is the reason you come into cinema, right?鈥
鈥淣orth Indians normally touch someone鈥檚 feet with one hand (to show respect). They bend forward, and if you鈥檙e giving respect to somebody, you touch their feet with one hand. But South Indians, what we do is we fall full on the floor. That鈥檚 how we respect somebody. So I did that and Abhishek sir, till today, makes fun of me saying 鈥業 thought you tripped and fell on your face because that鈥檚 how you fell鈥. I told him, 鈥楴o sir, I wanted to touch his feet鈥 because it was such a beautiful moment,鈥 she added.
Kaalidhar Laapata also stars Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub and promises an intense, emotional narrative packed with suspense.
Looking ahead, Abhishek will next be seen in the action-thriller King. Set for release in 2026, the film has already generated significant buzz thanks to its star-studded cast. The film will be headlined by Shah Rukh Khan as a powerful assassin entrenched in the criminal underworld. Abhishek joins Suhana Khan and Abhay Verma, while reports suggest that Deepika Padukone, Arshad Warsi, Rani Mukerji and Anil Kapoor have also been roped in for pivotal roles.
