After winning hearts as Lord Anthony in the Bridgerton series, Jonathan Bailey has switched gears. Bailey, who has conquered romance, has now starred in the next instalment of the Jurassic Saga, Jurassic World: Rebirth. Bailey plays palaeontologist Dr Henry Loomis in the action-packed film. In an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha, Bailey reflects on feeling like a bona fide action star.
Jonathan Bailey recalls a particular action sequence shot on The Essex and says, 鈥淲e had to shoot a scene where Henry must pull Zora (Scarlett Johansson) back into the boat because she鈥檚 falling off the side.鈥 Bailey says, 鈥淚 had water cannons blasting me, the boat鈥檚 flipping around, and my inner child鈥攚hich isn鈥檛 all that inner, to be honest鈥 was just screaming with delight. It was the most Spielberg-esque three minutes of my life.鈥
Bailey also reveals that he had to fight through a bout of vertigo during the filming of a rappelling scene on a cliff. 鈥淚 managed to conceal it so that no one realised,鈥 Bailey says. While Jurassic World challenged Bailey in terms of action, the actor took on the role with vigour and did his best to nail the sequences.

Jurassic World: Rebirth Review
News18 Showsha gave the film 3/5 stars. Our review read, 鈥淲hile technically a standalone sequel to Jurassic World Dominion, it discards much of the convoluted lore and genetic conspiracy clutter that bogged down its predecessors, opting instead for a simpler, sleeker narrative structure reminiscent of the original Jurassic Park. This back-to-basics approach largely works in its favour, even if the film never quite roars with the same ferocity or inventiveness that launched the franchise into the pop-culture phenomenon.鈥
鈥淛onathan Bailey steals the show. He鈥檚 the film鈥檚 emotional anchor, especially in a standout moment where he gently touches a dinosaur for the first time with childlike wonder. That sequence alone captures the very magic that made Jurassic Park a touchstone鈥 What Rebirth does right is remind audiences why we loved dinosaurs in the first place. There鈥檚 a sincerity in its spectacle, an acknowledgement that the franchise thrives not in convoluted plotting but in awe, fear and survival instincts. Bailey, Ali and Johansson do their best to lend emotional weight to a fairly straightforward story, and Edwards keeps things moving, even when the script sags in its middle act,鈥 the review also mentioned.
