Jeremy Clarkson has revealed David Beckham playfully taunted his Hawkstone beer and cider range during a messaging exchange.
The former Top Gear host launched the brand alongside a Cotswold brewery in 2021, selling it at his pub The Farmer鈥檚 Dog and promoting it on his Amazon Prime Video series, Clarkson鈥檚 Farm.
While discussing the perception that he isn鈥檛 fully involved in the running of the business, Clarkson pulled out his phone to read a jokey conversation he had with Beckham, 50, on a messaging app.
鈥淚鈥檓 going to betray a loyalty here. This is from David,鈥 the 65-year-old told The Times.
鈥淚 said congratulations [on Beckham鈥檚 selection to guest edit Country Life magazine] and he replied, 鈥楾hanks for your message; not official yet, but if it happens I鈥檒l have a nice pint of Stella.鈥欌
Clarkson said he replied, 鈥淵ou had better f**king not,鈥 to the football legend鈥檚 decision not to drink Hawkstone.
He then quipped to The Times: 鈥淚f he is going to drink anything that鈥檚 not Hawkstone, it should be Beck鈥檚.鈥
The former Grand Tour presenter then took aim at singer Kylie Minogue鈥檚 range of wines, claiming people buy them purely because they鈥檙e a 鈥淜ylie fan鈥.
He suggested fans purchase her product once before 鈥済oing back to a proper ros茅鈥.
Clarkson lives in Oxfordshire not far away from Beckham, who owns a 拢12 million Grade II-listed estate in Chipping Norton.
Earlier this year, Hawkstone was recalled after it was found to contain an undeclared ingredient that poses a risk to people with gluten intolerance or coeliac disease.
In April, the Food Standards Agency (FSA) issued a recall notice for two products made by The Cotswold Brewing Company 鈥 which uses barley from Clarkson鈥檚 Diddly Squat Farm in Oxfordshire.
The recall applied to all batch codes of the 440ml Hawkstone Black cans and the 330ml Hawkstone Spa Lager. Both beers are sold through Waitrose and the brewery鈥檚 own website.
A spokesperson from Hawkstone said: 鈥淲e have issued an allergen alert for Hawkstone Spa Lager and Hawkstone Black as they contain wheat, which is not currently listed on the product label.
鈥淎ll customers who have purchased these items have been notified that they can return them for a full refund.
鈥淏oth Hawkstone Spa Lager and Hawkstone Black remain fit for consumption for those who do not have a wheat allergy. We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.鈥
