Amazon billionaire Jeff Bezos has made like a fresher and thrown a bizarre foam party aboard his $500million yacht as part of his reported $48 million wedding celebration . The business tycoon is set to marry his fiancée of two years Lauren Sanchez in their controversial wedding, which has already been threatened by protestors. But Bezos foresaw there could be issues with his OTT nuptials, and hired the Venetian island of San Giovanni to retire to if any trouble should arise. Before heading to the Italian city, he and his wedding party partied on his yacht Koru, on the island of Cres in Croatia. Bezos, who is worth an estimated $223.5 billion, proposed to his news presenter girlfriend Lauren, 55, two years ago while aboard his superyacht. They were docked near the Cannes Film Festival when the 61-year-old popped the question. Their foam party on Sunday saw both the bride and groom-to-be wearing hats and sunglasses, with Lauren donning an ombre black and red bikini. The couple frolicked as the foam fell down from a giant cannon. A ‘Happy Birthday’ banner was seen hanging from the yacht. The Mail reports the party could have been thrown to celebrate Lauren’s 19-year-old son Evan’s birthday. The wedding party have made their way to Venice, brushing off controversy and protesting locals, who have threatened to block the city’s famous canals to object to the opulent affair. Greenpeace protestors and UK-based activists Everyone Hates Elon (EHE) have expressed their fury at the 200-guest pre-wedding gala, which is set to take place tomorrow evening. Bezos has already been forced to change the couple’s plans, scrambling to find a new venue after residents threatened to block the canals with inflatable crocodiles. Accusing Bezos of “shutting down Venice”, locals’ threats forced Bezos to move the ceremony from the 13th-century Scuola Grande della Misericordia, to Arsenale de Venezia. Arsenale is a huge complex of former shipyards and armories, clustered together in the city of Venice in northern Italy. It is said to be surrounded by water, making it impossible to reach by land when connecting bridges are raised. The couples’ 200 guests, including Kim Kardashian and her mother Kris Jenner, will descend on the tiny island of San Giovanni Evangelista for Thursday’s dinner. The island has a minuscule population of 11, with its only dwelling a modest five-bedroom home, which was previously the guesthouse to a convent which was part of a long-destroyed monastery complex. As well as the threat of protestors, who are accusing Bezos of tax avoidance and environmental damage, there are also security concerns. Due to escalating tensions with Iran and Israel , as well as President Donald Trump’s recent bomb attacks and involvement in the war, surveillance is likely to be heightened. Trump’s involvement in the Middle East has made his family’s presence a cause for concern. The US president’s daughter Ivanka, her husband, Jared Kushner, and their children have already arrived in Venice, and will be staying at the five-star £1,000 per night St Regis, near St Mark’s Square. Other high-profile faces on the guest list are said to include Kim Kardashian, Oprah Winfrey, Eva Longoria and Orlando Bloom, and possibly Bill Gates, Mick Jagger and Elton John.
