Jamie Vardy victim of incendiary transfer claim as Rangers enquiry splits room with two exits near but one stalls

A claim that Patrick Vieira personally intervened to extinguish Rangers -linked Jamie Vardy’s transfer to Genoa has been shot down. The Arsenal legend was claimed to have vetoed any move for the Leicester City legend, however, those claims have been strenuously denied hours after the 38-year-old’s name was put to Ibrox boss Russell Martin. The Rangers manager offered a diplomatic answer on Vardy and a multitude of names linked with Ibrox . He said: 鈥淚’ve been asked about so many players. 鈥淪ome miles away, some on the money. So, basically, I’m not going to give you an answer. 鈥淏ut I guess you’ll find out who’s real and who’s not in the next few weeks. 鈥淚 do expect the team to look different again in a week’s time. 鈥淏ut in a couple of weeks, so much can happen in football, so I don’t know. 鈥淚 think we definitely want to do more, for sure. And also, probably some players need to move on as well at some point as the squad’s going to start looking very big and very heavy.鈥 Meanwhile, Twente have set a deadline to secure the return of Robin Propper after the Dutchman featured in Rangers’ pre-season opener against Brugge. Sports director Jan Streuer has now confirmed Propper is one of their three main targets for the summer. He said: “There is no clarity yet with Robin, but we hope to get it very soon. We have money to buy players. Is that a lot of money? Twente is not a club that is going to pay five, six or seven million for a player. We are not there yet. “But we can do something. We are also still looking for a commanding attacking midfielder and we would like a very good left winger too. We are doing it differently now. It is better to be aggressive in the transfer market. You have certain players in mind and you want to make the right choice.” Clinton Nsiala is set to be one of those moving on as Martin reckons he needs game time which he cannot guarantee him. And the future of Cyriel Dessers remains up in the air with AEK Athens reportedly set to go again, however, reports in Greece insists they have alternative targets if they cannot reach the Ibrox side’s asking price.
