IndiGo on Thursday announced that its Board of Directors has approved the appointment of former NITI Ayog CEO and G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant as a Director on the company鈥檚 board.However, the appointment is also subject to the approval of the company鈥檚 shareholders.”The Board of Directors at its meeting held today i.e. Thursday, July 3, 2025, has approved appointment of Mr. Amitabh Kant (DIN: 00222708) as a Director effective from the date of receipt of security clearance from the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA). The appointment is subject to approval of the shareholders of the Company,” the aviation gaint said in an exchange filing.The celebrated civil servant recently stepped down as India鈥檚 G20 Sherpa on June 16 after serving in the role for three years, during which he played a key part in shaping India鈥檚 presidency of the G20 and representing the country in global negotiations.After nearly five decades in public service in various senior roles, including as NITI Aayog CEO and secretary in multiple ministries, Kant had said he intends to focus on supporting free enterprise, startups, think tanks, and academic institutions.Live Events”After 45 years of dedicated service to the Government, I have decided to embrace new opportunities and begin a new chapter.
