Hyderabad Techie鈥檚 How Not To Waste Entire Sick Day Tactic Has No Takers

A LinkedIn post by a tech worker from Hyderabad has gone viral and started a big online debate. In the post, he shared how he left work one hour early after feeling slightly unwell, hoping to avoid taking a full sick day. Some people praised him for being smart, but many others criticised him. They said his decision showed a 鈥渢oxic鈥 work culture and that he could have spread illness to others by not staying home.
鈥淪aved 5 hours just by acting smart. The day I felt something off like a fever was on the way, I didn鈥檛 wait for it to hit hard. I wrapped up an hour early and went home. That night? Full-blown fever,鈥 the techie wrote on LinkedIn.
鈥淏ut because I gave myself that buffer, I rested for 10鈥11 hours straight, and guess what? The next morning, I was back at work just 2 hours later instead of wasting an entire sick day,鈥 he added in his now-viral post.
He went on to emphasise the importance of listening to one鈥檚 health, saying, 鈥淭ime is precious. Your health is too.鈥
The post was later shared on Reddit with the caption, 鈥淲hat?!鈥 and has since sparked reactions from several users.

An individual strongly noted, 鈥淔ever generally means 鈥榠nfectious鈥, stay home, I ain鈥檛 eating downtime because you can鈥檛 be bothered to take an actual sick day.鈥
Yet another added, 鈥淪tay home when you鈥檝e been sick. You鈥檙e still shedding the virus after the fever breaks! FFS, this is how pandemics happen!鈥
In another instance, a Reddit user reportedly shared a funny yet cringeworthy story of how his weekend getaway plan completely backfired. He had called in sick on a Friday to enjoy a peaceful trip to Coorg, planning to return by Monday without raising any suspicion.
Everything seemed to be going smoothly until a reel from the homestay, featuring someone dancing happily in the background, went viral on Instagram, reportedly gaining over 13,000 likes. The real shocker? He was tagged in the video, instantly blowing his cover and turning his secret trip into public knowledge.
