Tamil Nadu Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Minister P. K. Sekarbabu on Saturday inspected the preparatory works for the consecration ceremony to be held at Subramanya Swamy temple in Tiruchendur on July 7.
The ceremony, which would be held between 6:15 a.m. and 6:50 a.m., is being held after a gap of 15 years. Major renovation works at the temple are being carried out at a cost of 鈧100 crore by the HR&CE department, while HCL has donated 鈧200 crore for renovation and construction of infrastructure facilities at the temple.
Over 10 lakh devotees are expected to participate in the grand event. Preparatory measures are progressing in full swing. On Saturday, Mr. Sekarbabu inspected the yagasalapuja site, security arrangements, and construction of 52 dormitories, among other works.
Basic facilities for devotees such as temporary bus stands, parking areas, food preparation zones, and security systems are being set up. The yagasala puja will begin on July 1.
鈥淭he final decision regarding the number of people allowed on the first floor of the temple to participate in the consecration ceremony will be made on July 2,鈥 said Mr. Sekarbabu.
Further, arrangements for drinking water facilities, medical aid, installation of a large number of LED screens in surrounding areas, adequate lighting, drone facilities for sprinkling the holy water and other necessary services were discussed in detail during the inspection.
Over 90% works have been completed and directions have been given to complete remaining works before July 5, he added.
Thoothukudi MP Kanimozhi, Fisheries and Animal Husbandry Minister Anitha Radhakrishnan, Thoothukudi Collector K. Elambahavath, District SP Albert John and other officials were present.
