A South West Chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP)., Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo has rejoiced with Muslims throughout the country as they celebrate the New Year, Hijrah 1447, urging them to practise religious tolerance by living in peace with adherents of other religions.
Hijrah marks the com-mencement of the Islamic new calendar year and it鈥檚 cel-ebrated all over the World by the Muslims.
Ajadi in a statement he is-sued and personally signed on Friday, urges the Muslims and people of other Faith to always pray and have renewed hope in God for a better Nigeria.
This is as he also called on the governments at all levels in the country to use the occasion of the Muslims鈥 New Year to prioritise justice, good gover-nance, and poverty alleviation.
According to the statement, 鈥淚 rejoice with all Muslims in the country as they celebrate the New Year, Hijrah 1447. I thank God that the new year meet our country in peace de-spite economic doldrums.
鈥淚 also wish our Muslims Jamaah all the good things of the New Year but urge them to celebrate moderately and with consideration for the freedom of adherents of oth-er religions.
鈥淟et me also plead that as we celebrate the New Islamic Cal-endar Year, we should embrace religious tolerance and live in peace with our neighbours. We can鈥檛 achieve any greatness or economic development in an atmosphere of chaos.
鈥淟et us use this occasion to renew our faith in God and pray for the restoration of our country鈥檚 economy which at present is in coma.鈥
He urged the governments at all levels to prioritise fair-ness, justice and good gov-ernance. The governments should also alleviate poverty and use the resources that the Almighty Allah has freely given us to better the lots of Nigerians.
