When you’re sitting on a plane waiting for the safety demonstration, have you ever wondered what it might be like to give one? Well, a groom-to-be found out exactly what it was like when his mates well and truly stitched him up in a hilarious prank where he was forced to join in with the flight attendants while on the way to his stag do. Best man Richard Purseglove even provided a Ryanair -esque outfit for husband-to-be Jay to wear after colluding with his fiancée to find out his clothes and shoe size. Thanks to Richard’s contacts in the aviation industry, due his his part-time flying instructor role, he found securing a cabin crew outfit a simple task. In the departure lounge bar, Richard revealed the get-up to Jay, 47, and the rest of the 14-strong group, and they were left in stitches before he’d even put it on. And in a video, which has attracted 2.5 million views online, Jay could be seen on board the flight, checking people’s seatbelts and chatting with other crew members as if he were actually a real cabin crew member. He even, rather convincingly (other than the laughter throughout the plane), took part in the safety demonstration. The group was travelling from East Midlands Airport to Dublin, Ireland, with Ryanair. Richard explained: “I planned to speak to the Ryanair staff at the gate to let them know, but it was all a bit rushed and we were in different positions in the queue. “I made sure that I got to the aircraft before him and explained to the cabin crew that they had an extra team member today. “I reassured them that he’s not drunk and would be well behaved, but encouraged them to utilise him as much as possible. “I knew that once we were in Dublin, if I made him dress up, then we likely wouldn’t be allowed to go in any bars, so I knew it had to be on the way there”. Richard also said that he was impressed with how the crew handled the extra staff member, taking him in their stride. Jay, who usually works as a fireman, immersed himself into his temporary job role, while passengers on board chuckled away at his expense. Richard added: “The crew were brilliant. I actually think it was probably the most attention passengers have paid to a safety brief in a while. “He wandered up and down the aircraft to speak to the other guys after takeoff, and passengers were joking with him, asking for drinks and duty-free. “As we started the descent to Dublin, the cabin crew came to get him to help them with the rubbish collection. They were all fantastic. It was harmless fun”. Viewers loved the prank, and a Ryanair crew member even commented on the video, thanking the group for making it a “fun flight”. One viewer said: “I love how the staff allow him to get involved”. A second person said: “See, this is how stag do’s should act. Having a good bit of fun. Not getting drunk and getting all lairy”. “I was part of the crew that day. Thanks to this amazing ‘colleague’ for making everyone laugh. It was such a fun flight thanks to you,” added a third viewer. Others simply said that “this is the type of fun we like to see on flights”.
