Police arrested former Delegate Mike San Nicolas early Monday morning for driving under the influence after failing a standardized field sobriety test conducted following an auto-object incident, the Guam Police Department said in a statement after media inquiries.
After failing the sobriety test, San Nicolas complained of back pain so medics transported him to the Guam Regional Medical City.
“Investigations will continue upon San Nicolas’ release from GRMC,” GPD said.
Prior to the sobriety test, San Nicolas refused treatment.
Came from a pub
At around 2:23 a.m. on July 7, Tumon-Tamuning Precinct units were at a location across from the Pacific Place building investigating an auto-object case.
“The operator, San Nicolas, was seen by medics, however, he refused treatment,” GPD said.
San Nicolas commented that he was coming from Shamrocks Sports Pub.
“An officer noticed the odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from San Nicolas’ person and breath. San Nicolas agreed to submit to a Standardized Field Sobriety Test which was then administered. He failed the test,” GPD said.
San Nicolas later complained of pain to his back and medics were called. He was transported to GRMC to get a medical assessment.
