The So膵jet脿 Filarmonika Leone AD 1863, accompanied by its philharmonic band Banda 膴ittadina Leone, recently represented Malta in Brussels with a musical celebration aimed at promoting cultural unity and Maltese heritage on the international stage. The highlight of this cultural mission was a concert in front of the European Parliament, followed by a spirited traditional band march through the city centre. The march concluded in the iconic Grand Place. The society said in a statement that the initiative was 鈥渂orn out of its firm belief that music and culture are powerful tools that transcend borders, connecting people regardless of nationality or belief鈥. It added that through its presence in Brussels, the society aimed to share Malta鈥檚 unique identity and heritage while promoting a message of unity and peace. Among the salient moments, it noted the performance of the chorale from the symphonic poem Finlandia by Jean Sibelius. 鈥淭his piece, a heartfelt prayer for peace, was selected in reflection of the ongoing global conflicts that continue to cause immense suffering.鈥 The society expressed its gratitude to MEP Thomas Bajada, who made the visit possible.
