Government to crack down on exam malpractices – Education Minister

The Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has reaffirmed government’s unwavering commitment to tackling examination malpractices involving both students and teachers, vowing decisive action to uphold the integrity of Ghana’s education system.

Speaking at the 2025 WAEC Distinction Awards Ceremony in Accra, the Education Minister emphasized that maintaining the credibility of examinations is critical to the Ghana’s future.

In a move to promote academic excellence and inspire future achievers, the Minister also announced that ten outstanding awardees from the ceremony would receive full scholarships under the Ghana Scholarship Authority. He described the gesture as part of a broader national agenda to reward excellence and nurture the next generation of leaders.

He congratulated the award recipients for their exceptional performance and encouraged continuing students to aim higher and stay committed to discipline, hard work, and integrity.

The WAEC Distinction Awards celebrate the highest-performing students in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), recognizing excellence and encouraging higher academic standards across the region.
